France Grice – Glass Casting and Fusing

How long have you been creating?  I have worked with Glass since 1998 first creating functional objects for the home and later for the garden. I am a professional full time artist since 2008.

What inspires you to do what you do?  The human form and also nature are my inspiration. I enjoyed a long and successful career as an interior designer. Then I started exploring glass. My creations are twofold: on one side figurative works in kiln cast glass, on the other fused glass trees.

Artist Statement                                                                                                                    After taking Donald Robertson’s pâte de verre workshop at Espace Verre in Montreal I found a new path that would divert my focus from making functional works. From this technical knowledge, I developed unique techniques to suit my artistic vision. I have built sufficient confidence and expertise to hold workshops in casting for professional sculptors in Ottawa.
