Meet Ceramic Sculptor, Ljiljana Stojanovic . . .
How long have you been creating? I believe that a passionate elementary school art teacher can strongly influence a child with the beauty of art, and encourage his or her creative side. Art has not been my primary profession, but it is my intimate passion. For me, discovering the clay was “love at the first sight”. That was back in 1999.
What inspires you to do what you do? I began my adventure with clay some sixteen years ago to counter balance my work as an engineer. I was immediately captivated by the feeling that the clay texture was leaving on my fingers and the enormous power of creating something from the amorphous form. That powerful feeling led me to start living a “double life” as an engineer and a sculptor.
Artist Statement People, especially human faces inspire me, but I allow the clay itself, its texture, its strength and plasticity to lead my fingers. I just observe, I interpret and I deliver.
