Polymer clay is the new kid on the block. It’s only been available on the market as an art medium since the early 1980’s. Since then it has evolved as a serious contender in the art world, recognized by art galleries and museums everywhere. It’s a versatile medium with a wide variety of uses, from jewelry making and functional art to hyper realistic figurative sculptures.
Two artists will be showcasing their polymer clay creations at DIMENSIONS 2017. Line Labrecque uses polymer clay on glass to create whimsical and functional sculptures. She also creates colourful relief work on wood panels. She will be offering a unique workshop experience on Sunday, October 22nd where guests can create beautiful rose caned earrings. Line is a master at creating cane designs which will also be available in the Gift Shop at DIMENSIONS all weekend.
Maria Saracino on the other hand is a figurative artist who sculpts realistic characters in polymer clay. She then uses textiles and resins to finish her sculptures. This year she will be showcasing her historical and elaborate Father Christmas Figures as well as entertaining us with a storytelling hour where she will talk about the History of Father Christmas. Don’t miss that on Saturday, October 21st at 2:30pm.
