Many of our talented members also teach sculpture. Below are scheduled workshops being offered. If you would like a workshop for your group that you don’t see offered here, please get in contact with the artist to see if a workshop can be arranged.

JUNE 2019 Workshops

Soapstone Carving

Learn how to carve soapstone using hand tools. Students will be guided by the instructor through the soapstone carving process of cutting, shaping, sanding and polishing to produce a small bear, 3” x 3” x 5”. Tools and materials are provided. Students are responsible for personal protection: safety glasses, gloves (optional), closed toe shoes, dust mask etc. Feel free to contact me if you would like more information.

High Relief Portrait Sculpture in Polymer Clay

In this workshop you will learn about facial anatomy and how to create a recognizable relief portrait of your subject.

Maria Saracino will sculpt right alongside you, taking you through the steps to create a whimsical high relief portrait sculpture.

You’ll learn how to give your sculpture realistic details and skin tone and how to paint eyes and finishing details.

SEPTEMBER 2019 Workshops

Fun Making Eco Leather Art, with Sheree Bradford-Lea

In this introductory leather art workshop you will transform two plain eco leather rounds into decorative items: One a ring holder, the other a coaster. Using traditional and non-traditional leather working methods you will learn how to make the rounds into your own works of art by creating interesting patterns in the leather, wet molding and painting with acrylic leather dyes. Prepare to find out about the versatility of this material, and have fun doing it!

ONGOING 2019 Workshops

Glass Sculpting

NCNS-Eiko, glass pic for her workshopPurpose: to make your own small sculpture in glass.
Technique: pâte de verre, the original glass-making process.
Prerequisite: some experience in sculpting.
Place: my studio at 668 Chapel Street in Sandy Hill.
Number of students: limited to two.
Time: one evening or afternoon a week for two and a half hours, over 6 weeks.
Cost: $350.00 per student (all materials, tools and equipment provided).
