Opening night of DIMENSIONS 2015 is only 3 weeks away. Over 60 sculptural works will be on display at St. Brigid’s Centre for the Arts at 310 St. Patrick’s Street, including the stone and cement work of . . .
How long have you been creating? Self taught with no related education I have been working in this art form for approximately 15 years. My inspiration is nature, animals, trees, politics and injustices. I am inspired by the work of other sculptors.
Artist Statement I started sculpting because I had some shapes in my head for a long time and then I finally got to make them real. My first sculpture was my polar bear, which I still make and sell in different sizes and stones. The more I tried and practiced I found sculpting as a way to express thoughts and feelings in an intensity I haven’t known before. By now, new sculptures and shapes basically do themselves, I just start somewhere and the material, tools, and hands take over; the process can get quite emotional.
